About Us
Situated in Rolling Fork, Mississippi, Sharkey Issaquena Community Hospital is the hub of the Lower Mississippi Delta healthcare. Established in 1949, the hospital has been a pillar of support for the region for over fifty years. The facility is a 19 bed, not-for-profit, critical access hospital serving residents of both Sharkey and Issaquena Counties. The facility is jointly owned by the two counties and operations are overseen by an appointed Hospital Board of Trustees. The day-to-day operations are conducted by CEO, S. Jerry Keever, who has filled the role for more than 20 years.
In 2016, the hospital assumed ownership of Heritage Manor of Rolling Fork, a 54-bed nursing home facility. The transition to Sharkey Issaquena Nursing Home has proven to be a great resource for the geriatric population in the area as it allows our residents to stay close to friends and family as their needs change with age.
Sadly, on March 24, 2023, a powerful EF4 tornado caused significant damage to both Sharkey Issaquena Community Hospital and Nursing Home, devastating much of the town of Rolling Fork. In the hours after the storm, all patients were safely evacuated from the hospital and nursing home. Most were transferred to facilities in neighboring counties where nursing home residents remain at this time. With the assistance and support of the University of Mississippi Medical Center and the Mississippi State Department of Health, patient care activities immediately relocated to the Civic Center on Highway 61 in Rolling Fork. While operations have been reduced, essential services such as emergency care, inpatient treatment, wound care, radiology, laboratory, and primary care clinics are available to meet your healthcare needs.
